Part-Time Research Assistant I in Latin American Studies, School of Modern Languages and Cultures (Job No.: SMLC20240108)

 


Applications are invited for appointment of a Part-Time Research Assistant I in American Studies (Latin American Studies) under the supervision of Dr Bárbara Fernández-Melleda at the School of Modern Languages and Cultures at The University of Hong Kong.

The appointment period will be from February 19, 2024 to April 18, 2024 (2 months) and will not be renewed.

Applicants should have an undergraduate degree in Spanish, Latin American Studies or cognate discipline. Certified Spanish Language at B2 level or above (DELE or similar). In the case of not having a certificate issued in the last 2 years, please send details of a trusted academic referee who can vouch for your Spanish level.  Native or near native level of Mandarin Chinese is required.  Previous research experience in Latin American or Chinese literary topics and experience working/studying in a Spanish-Speaking country will be an advantage. Applicants are expected to hold a  valid working visa or permanent HK resident status to work in Hong Kong.

 

Duties include, but are not limited to, collation of information from databases and books in Chinese and Spanish, translation work (Mandarin/Spanish/English) and research assistance to Dr Fernández-Melleda.
