[Oct 5] El desencanto (1976): 50th Anniversary Screening

Join us for a special screening of Jaime Chávarri’s landmark documentary El desencanto (1976), organised to celebrate Spanish Cinema Day and the film’s 50th anniversary.

Produced by Elías Querejeta, El desencanto offers an intimate and unconventional portrait of the Panero-Blanc family after the death of poet Leopoldo Panero. Through conversations with Felicidad Blanc and their sons Juan Luis, Leopoldo María and Michi Panero, the film explores family memory, grief and the tensions of a society at a moment of profound change. Fifty years after its release, it remains a fascinating work of Spanish cinema and a revealing document of the period surrounding Spain’s transition to democracy.
