We are excited to invite you to Russian Film Week at HKU, a special celebration of Russia’s vibrant culture, history, and storytelling through the art of cinema. Join us as we explore compelling films that showcase Russia’s diverse traditions, artistic expression, and societal stories.

This event offers a unique opportunity to:

1. Thursday, November 13th at 7 pm: CBC, Chow Yei Ching Building, Main Campus (Capacity: 105) 

The Last Bogatyr (2017) is a Russian-language fantasy comedy film directed by Dmitriy Dyachenko. The story develops around Baba Yaga and Koschei, both villains in traditional Russian fairy tales (as well as the fairy tales of other Slavic countries). When Ivan meets his new friends in another place called Belogorie, his quest in the new country begins with the sparkling immortals' effect on love in the past, from his childhood up to his time.

 2. Friday 14th at 6 pm: CBC (Capacity: 105) 

Stilyagi (2008): Set in mid-1950s Moscow, Stilyagi (Стиляги, also known as Hipsters in the English release) is a 2008 Russian musical comedy-drama film depicting the Soviet youth subculture "stilyagi," along with their struggle for self-expressiof within the prevailing reality of the Soviet repression.

3. Saturday 15th at 12 pm: MB256, 2/F, Main Building, Main Campus (Capacity: 64) 

Diamond arm (1969): An ordinary Soviet citizen accidentally intervenes into a huge operation of international criminal group that trades illegally obtained jewelry.

4. Saturday 15th at 3 pm MB201, 2/F, Main Building, Main Campus (Capacity: 125) 

Love with an accent (2012): Colourfully rich and emotionally deep, "Love with an Accent" is a film that explores several very different love stories. These are true stories of human feelings, bright and passionate, mature and merciless. They range from the naïve and absurd, to the odd and comical to the lucky, to the melancholy.
