Core Course


This course adopts multi-disciplinary perspectives to examine significant and complex issues of Southeast Asia in the past and present. The purpose of this course is to provide students with a base of knowledge of Southeast Asia’s historical and contemporary experiences and contexts. It aims to help students understand how the historical legacy of Southeast Asia is reflected in today’s states and societies of this region, and how political, economic, social, and cultural characteristics of Southeast

Asia continue to evolve in a comprehensive way.
