Dr. Isaac Gimenez holds a Ph.D. in Hispanic Language and Literatures from University of California, Los Angeles, where he also completed an M.A. in Afro-Luso-Brazilian Cultures and Portuguese Linguistics. His doctoral dissertation, Fleshing Out the Anthropophagic Body: Authorship Performed in 20th- and 21st-Century Brazilian Poetry, explores how traditional constructions of authorship are challenged within the Brazilian literary tradition through recycling poetics, embodiment, and performative practices.

Prior to his doctoral studies, he earned a degree in Translation and Interpreting Studies from Universidad de Granada (Spain) and worked as a professional translator in legal, audiovisual, and literary fields across English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

With over a decade of university-level teaching experience across the United States and Spain – including positions at Pomona College, UCLA, and Universidad Europea de Valencia – Isaac has guided students at both lower and upper division courses on language acquisition, literature, and cultural studies. His research interests span performance poetry, authorship and translation studies, second language acquisition, and L2 writing development. These intersecting passions drive his commitment to fostering transatlantic dialogues between Lusophone and Spanish-speaking literary traditions from Europe, Africa, and Latin America.
