Core Course


This course provides an exploration of women and gender in Asian societies from historical and comparative perspectives. Students will examine the changing experiences and contexts of women and gender in Asia, gaining insights into Asian culture and society through a gendered lens. Through a chronological and thematic approach, students will analyze political, economic, social, and cultural phenomena related to women, with a focus on key themes such as family, marriage, education, revolution, and political participation. Emphasis will be placed on understanding how concepts of women and gender are constructed within Asian societies and addressing global gender issues within a regional context.
