Profile

Dr Wong obtained his degrees from The University of Hong Kong (HKU) in 2004 (BA), 2009 (MPhil), and 2014 (PhD). His research interest mainly lies in the migration, re-production, circulation, and consumption of Asian popular cultures in the region, such as TV drama, video game, and fan culture. Attention have also been paid to the relationship between popular culture and colonial histories of Hong Kong and Taiwan.


He started his teaching career at HKU from 2013, teaching a wide range of subjects by interdisciplinary approaches, including video game studies, new media and social media, film, fashion, commercializing creative industries, creative industries in China, China modernization in 20th century, and clandestine globalization.
