Shirly Tang, a native German, taught at various academic institutions in Germany and Taiwan. Since joining the University of Hong Kong in 2008, she has been engaged in curriculum design & development for content-based courses and different projects, e.g. the development of an online-learning tool “Student Corner” for language acquisition, various e-learning activities, acquiring sponsors and cooperation partners for the German Programme. Lately, she has been contributing to serve as the coordinator of the German Programme’s internship course GRMN3031.
Outreach and experiential learning activities
-Visiting German-speaking companies and institutions in Hong Kong including the various Consulates General
-Inviting external guest speakers to give talks about various topics concerning German-speaking countries and societies to students of different faculties
Knowledge exchange activities
In 2015, Ms. Tang, in collaboration with Mrs. Tonja Fung, served the community by promoting German language and German/Swiss culture for less privileged families in cooperation with the Consulate General of Switzerland and TES (– an educational project brainchild of Wai Yin Association).
In 2016 and 2017, she continued, in collaboration with Mrs. Tonja Fung, with similar projects in cooperation with the Consulate General of Switzerland and Project WeCan. She promoted German language for young people from disadvantaged learning background that includes cultural, geographical, political, and historical aspects.
