Abstract:The increasing rivalry between the US and China over technology and innovation has profound repercussions for European security, industry and democracy. This presentation examines how technology has become a significant pressure point for Europe and explores the cascading effects technological rivalry has for core political, strategic and economic practices in the EU. It also reflects critically on Europe's global regulatory power and asks if this influence is sustainable in an age of fast-paced technological transformation.
